The LMAF provides basic and advanced courses in mechanics of solids and structures for the future mechanical engineers.

In addition, M.S. projects and Ph.D. theses are proposed in each area of research.

The research at LMAF is focused on the mechanics of solids and structures with special emphases on damage and fracture of composites, reliability analysis, contact mechanics, dynamics and biomechanics. The research relies on a growing network of academic collaborations within Switzerland, Europe and the United States and is funded by federal and local agencies.

The LMAF has the competence and equipment necessary for the resolution of various R&D problems in industry within its area of activity. It includes activities on vibrations and modal analysis, experimental mechanics and numerical analysis of mechanical systems.
